At the beginning of the year, I decided to write one story a week, based on two things: I saw a quote on facebook and since I cannot, for the life of me, find it, I am going to have to paraphrase it and cannot attribute it to the person to whom I should.
However, the quote was about if you write a short story a week, then you have 52 short stories and it is impossible to have 52 bad stories.
The optimism and persistence of this struck me and as I have been trying to keep the “groove” I got into with my writing toward the end of 2013, I thought this was a great way to go about it.
THEN, soon after, I saw a post from a friend whose writing I admire and personally, from what I have seen on Facebook, ditto. Jessica McHugh proposed a challenge of writing a story a week for the entirety of 2014. Combine the two separate, but linked posts on Facebook and I thought “Game On.”
I have been meaning to write this post since the very first day of the year, but…you know, life happens.
I also, in the course of 2014, plan to do much, MUCH more blogging. So far, 2014 is shaping up to be a busy, fun, and exciting year.
I am going to keep track of the progress I make on my Story A Week stories…I am also going to attempt to keep track of which I submit and which, if any, get accepted. Below is the list of weeks. I will be adding the titles as I write the stories. OR when I can update them.
You can follow the progress through my blog posts on my Author’s Page
